Invisalign

Perhaps you've considered having your teeth straightened but have been put off by the thought of "train-track" style braces of old?

Fortunately, orthodontics (teeth straightening) has moved on a long way and near-invisible aligners are now available which can straighten your teeth equally effectively but without the potential embarrassment.

Perhaps the most popular type of "invisible" brace is Invisalign which has been used to straighten many thousands of people's teeth worldwide. Invisalign is available at Kennett Road Dental Practice and has a number of advantages when compared to other types of braces:

  • Near-invisible and can't be detected even quite close up
  • Can be removed when eating
  • Quick and easy to clean making oral hygiene maintenance easier

Invisalign consists of a series of transparent, medical grade plastic trays or aligners which are used in sequence to gradually move your teeth to the desired position. The technique can be used to correct a variety of problems, from straightforward to more complex.

Mr Duggan is Invisalign accredited and has cared for many patients using Invisalign aligners. Invisalign is often accompanied by ‘edge’ bonding where white filling material is added to improve the shape and appearance of the final straightened teeth.

Veneers

Veneers

Veneers are thin, custom-made shells crafted using tooth-coloured materials designed to cover the front side of teeth to improve the overall appearance. They are made of either thin plastic resin or ceramic.  Veneers can change the shape, appearance or position of a tooth or mask discolouration with minimal preparation.

A veneer is bonded to the tooth structure with tooth-coloured resin cement. Several visits are necessary to complete treatment.
